I was asked a question regarding how to determine the optimal placement of a cooling fan on a computer chip layout. This involved fluid flow and convective and conductive heat transfer.
I was asked a couple questions about numerical simulation of turbulent flow (i.e. how to represent the energy cascade across different length scales)

You are given 2 blank six-sided die. Can you represent the days of the month using the two die (e.g. numbers 01 - 31)? If so, how?
You have 3 bags - 1 with red socks, one with black socks, and one of mixed red and black socks. There are labels on the bags and you know for sure that each bag is mislabeled. You are allowed to reach in and pick out an item from a bag one at a time to help determine what is in them. How many total picks would it take to decide the correct labeling.
